Chateau Lafon-Rochet 2015 Saint-Estephe Grand Cru Classe
Short Description
It is a vineyard that will emerge in the 17th century, whose owner was M. de Lafon, adviser to the Parliament of Bordeaux and who gave it its name.
However, after many vicissitudes, it was not until 1960 that the current castle, 18th century style, was restored.
It is a 4th classified grand cru according to the prestigious list of 1855.
It is a Médoc St Estèphe which covers an area of 45 ha and therefore the average age is 30 years. The soil is made up of gravel with a clay-limestone subsoil, an essential characteristic for the quality of the wine.
The grape variety is 55% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 40% Merlot noir, 3% Cabernet franc 3% and Petit Verdot 2%
All the harvest is manual with sorting table in the cellar. The production is around 220 barrels, or around 5,900 bottles per hectare.
The wine is aged entirely in barrels, 50% of which are new barrels for around 14 to 18 months following the harvest.
