Chateau Carbonnieux 2015 Pessac-Leognan Grand Cru
Short Description
Throughout its vegetative cycle, the vine has followed a magnificent evolution thanks to almost perfect weather. The 2015 vintage is a sunny and early vintage, allowing it to become part of the legend of these wonderful “5” vintages.
The color is intense, deep, tending towards purple. The nose is expressive and fruity. On the palate, the attack is fresh then evolves into an ample tannic structure, worthy of great wines for laying down.
Cabernets sauvignon are the majority in the blend and bring volume and remarkable length in the mouth. Merlot and Petit Verdot confer aromatic complexity and a certain gluttony to the whole.
It is a Graves wine classified Pessac-Léognan, that comes in white and red.
Château Carbonnieux, planted on a cray-limestone soil, a perfect quality to give birth to the best white wines, was built around 1380 and the Graves vineyard spreads on a surface area of 180 hectares.
Grape varieties : reds : 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 30% Merlot Noir, 8% Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Côt Malbec 2%. Whites : Sauvignon 65%, Sémillon 35%.
The entire harvest is done by hand and the white wine is mature for 30% in new barrels for 10 months for white, and 18 months for red.
Château Carbonnieux’s white wines are lively, elegant, dry, and distinguished.
Red wines are full of sap, well-built, with a very generous bouquet.
