You don't need oil as the onions cook from frozen and there is enough liquid to cook the meat/fish/chicken too. All the flavour without chopping. Excellent! February 10, 2015 Rated 5 out of 5 by SN80 Can't live without them I make a lot of curries, so I am used to chopping countless onions, but when I saw these, I had to try them. The onions are uniformly diced, not too small and not too big. Just right for curries and cottage pies. They can be used straight out of the freezer (I pour them out of the packet into warm oil) and are so convenient, that I can't imagine buying onions ever again. Paired with the frozen garlic and keeping my ginger in the freezer, I never have to peel or chop smelly veg again. With it being freezable, it is convenient and handy although one negative I have is that I do find it watery in the pan, and therefore have difficulty in turning it brown when needed without burning it slightly. So although I recommend it and consider it a helpful item I would like to see less water in future batches. I always keep a bag of the chopped onion in my freezer as it is so easy and convenient to use. I add it to soups, casseroles, bolognese , chilli , pies, curry - you get the idea! Haven't bought a fresh onion in years now, so no wasted halves lurking in the fridge. More importantly no onion tears and stinging eyes! The frozen spinach is also a godsend.
