Chateau Pontet-Canet 2011 Pauillac Grand Cru Classe
Short Description
The color is almost jade black.
On the nose and on the palate: an immense palette of small black fruits such as black cherry from Itxassou from the Basque country, blueberries, jammy blackcurrant cream with fine hints of liquorice, vanilla, violet and oak.
The tannins are delicately acidic to pleasure with an exceptional roundness in the mouth, all guarantees of long aging.
A wine with aging potential around the 2045s but also very good to taste now. The bottles will be kept lying down, protected from light and noise, with a humidity of around 70%.
Château Pontet-Canet was acquired by Jean-François de Pontet in 1725 who gave his name to the land of Canet.
This château, whose soil is composed of quaternary gravel, is a fifth Grand Cru Classé Pauillac from the prestigious 1855 list.
The vineyard covers approximately 80 hectares, with an average age of 45 years, and production is around 333 barrels per year depending on the vintage, ie 400,000 bottles for an average yield per hectare of 3,750 liters.
Grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon 60%, Merlot Noir 33%, Cabernet Franc 5% and Petit Verdot 2%.
All the harvest is manual and the wine is aged entirely in barrels of which 60% in new barrels for 15 to 20 months depending on the vintage before bottling.
