Godet is a Cognac Trading House founded in 1782 but earlier, older archives allow us to go back to 1550 when Bonnaventure Godet, who came from the Netherlands, set up a wine business on the Quai de La Rochelle.
Later, Jean Godet ennobled by the King of France Louis XIV was Mayor for life of Fontenais.
It was in 1782 in the 7th generation that Maison Godet was entered in the Trade Register as a cognac merchant, a key deed authenticating this house.
Today the Maison Godet is managed by a fifteenth of the name and still in La Rochelle.
