High altitude (over 5,000 feet): prepare as directed, adding 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour. *Real butter works best. If using margarine, use one that contains more than 65% oil. Iced cutout sugar cookies:Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare cookie dough as directed above, reducing the amount of butter to 1/3 cup. Place dough on floured surface; roll to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes and place 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-11 minutes or until edges are light golden brown. Cool cookies completely. Icing: In small bowl, stir together 3 cups powdered sugar, 3 tbsp warm water, 1 tbsp light corn syrup and 1/4 tsp almond extract until well blended and smooth.
