Our Family LentilsLentils.Before cooking lentils, examine, sort and rinse well to remove any residual material. Lentils require no soaking or salt for preparation. Follow these simple steps: 1. Rinse; drain. Transfer to stock pot or steam-jacketed kettle. 2. Add at least twice the amount of water as lentils. 3. Cover; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer: 20-30 minutes - lentils for entrees, side dishes; 30-40 minutes - lentil puree. If salt is to be added for lentils, add it when they are nearly tender for it toughens the skins and slows cooking.Long Description
