Royal Lochnagar 12 Years Royal Lonchnager 12 yrs is the 12 year old was distillery at the Lochnagar distillery, once visited by Queen Victoria when she was staying at nearby Balmoral. Tasting Note Nose: Creamy, aromatic nose with hints of hay, malted barley, oak and mixed peels. Palate: Soft smoke and gingerbread, oodles of toasty spices, Demerara sugar and boiled sweets. Finish: The finish is all about grass and honey. Overall: A sweet, summery dram. Alcohol Content : 40% Aroma : Not obvious to begin with. Planed wood, light toffee, boat varnish. Linseed oil behind, even putty, and later a lychee-like acidity. With water the acidity comes through (acid drops) , and the nose sweetens. Still a pleasant fresh woodiness, followed by warm sand. After a while, coffee with brown sugar Color : Pale amber Country : Scotland Palate : Pleasant; an initial sweetness is quickly overtaken by acidity.
