Pommery Cuvee Louise 2005 Edition Parcelle Coffret

Short Description

The 2005 harvest took place with cool, dry and sunny weather, ideal climatological qualities for a successful vintage.

The most beautiful bunches were selected during the harvest and brought back to the press for immediate pressing, thus obtaining the quintessence of the first pressing.

It is a blended Champagne from the vineyards of Ay, Avize and Cramant, all classified Grands Crus Classés at the top of the quality hierarchy of Champagnes.

The color is brilliant gold and exceptionally clear.

On the nose and on the palate: floral aromas of lime blossom and hawthorn followed by notes of yellow fruits such as vine peach, pear and plums.

Spicy notes of vanilla and toasted hazelnuts add complexity to this delicate nose. Fresh attack on the palate with a beautiful minerality in perfect harmony with the nose.

Food and wine pairing: serve between 8-10 ° C throughout a meal with asparagus in mousseline sauce or roasted lobster with black truffle or a steak of steamed turbot accompanied by oyster mushrooms. Excellent with fish in sauce or grilled a la plancha.

Bottles lying down to store in the cellar away from light and noise with a humidity of around 70%. We suggest successive tastings in order to measure its evolution until its qualitative peak.

In 1857, the wool industry was in crisis, and Mr Pommery moved into the champagne trade to provide for his infant daughter. He died a year later in February 1858. The rest is history: the young widow Pommery took over the champagne business and led it on to success and glory.

Louise Pommery married Guy de Polignac in 1875. This Polignac branch remained owner of the House until the end of the 1980s, when the House went into the hands of various groups, to end with the Vranken group.

Pommery estate: ten years of work, started in 1868, were necessary to this masterpiece of Elizabethan style.

The superb staircase of 116 steps leads, 30 meters below ground, to a real underground cathedral. The Pommery cellars were built on ancient “crayères” dug by the Romans 2000 years ago.

Each underground gallery was named by Madame Pommery to pay tribute to her customers around the world.

The cellars currently shelter 20 million bottles, among which the House’s most ancient, rare vintages, kept in the wine museum.

The Pommery park was created in 1910 in order to bring light to the immense cellars, and Edouard Redon was the landscape architect.
