Domaine Lalande consists of a great diversity of terrains: the vines are planted on the slopes of two hills facing each other. One part of domain is oriented to the west and the other to the east and southeast. In the south, the canal forms a natural border for the domain. The vineyards, that stretches out along the Canal du Midi, was created at the same time that the historical canal was built in the 18th century. It also served as a home to one of the most renowned architects of the time, who also drew the plans for the Canal du Midi. The property at that time consisted of 4,942 acres but it was divided after the French Revolution. When Pierre Degroote and Bernard Montariol bought the vineyard in 1996, it was just under 309 acres. Since then, other neighboring vineyards were bought for a total of over 530 acres today.Long Description
