In a medium saucepan, combine rice, vermicelli and 2 tablespoons of butter, margarine, or oil. 2. Saute over medium heat until vermicelli is golden brown. 3. Add contents of the seasoning packet, 2 cups of water, and a 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes. Bring mixture to a boil. 4. Reduce heat to low, cover and let simmer for 15-20 minutes. 5. Remove from heat, and let stand 5-10 minutes, covered, before serving. Microwave: 1. In a 2 quart microwave-safe bowl combine rice, vermicelli, and 2 tablespoons of butter, margarine, or oil. 2. Microwave uncovered, on high for 1 minute. 3. Stir contents, and microwave for 1-2 minutes or until vermicelli is golden brown. 4. Remove from microwave and stir in 2-1/4 cups water, 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes and contents of seasoning packet. Caution hot. 5. Microwave uncovered on high for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender. 6. Remove from microwave and let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving. Note: Times may vary depending on microwave.
