Long Description

Philippe Clicquot is the founder of the famous Champagne House, where one of the world's most famous champagne brands is created. The company is located in the city of Reims, in the north-east of France, in the beautiful Champagne region. The history of the world-famous champagne house Veuve Clicquot begins in 1772, when Philippe Clicquot founded a wine trade whose products were marketed under the name "Clicquot". François Clicquot, the son of the entrepreneur who was to take over the company, died unexpectedly, so his widow Barbe-Nicole Clicquot-Ponsardin continued the business. Thanks to her untiring commitment, she was able to market a brand of champagne in the first year after taking over the company, which is still considered a true "myth" today. The anchor that adorns every champagne cork is the trademark of this successful company.

After the publication of the famous "comet wine" in 1811, the young entrepreneur was also able to celebrate great success in Russia when she sold her champagne in Saint Petersburg. 1816 was a milestone in the history of champagne production, because Madame Clicquot invented the shaker, which is still an integral part of production today. In 1909, the production rooms of the Champagne House were extensively renovated. In addition, former chalk mines located on the outskirts of Reims served as wine cellars. The production facility, which also served as a visitor centre, is still in use today. After the death of the entrepreneur, her son Eduard Werle took over the management. The Veuve Clicquot estate, whose vineyards are classified "Grand Cru", covers 393 hectares. The slopes, which are blessed with fertile soil and sunshine, offer optimal growing conditions. In addition to the main Chardonnay grape variety, the estate also grows the two red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. One of the company's best-known products is a first-class Champagne cuvée called "Yellow Label", which combines the three grape varieties of the winery. An equally exquisite cuvée is the champagne "Veuve Clicquot Rosé", which is characterized by a unique elegance, finesse and intensity. "Cave Privée 1990", a wonderful champagne whose bronze hue and fine perlage are equally inspiring, is reminiscent of citrus and cooked fruit. Sweet vanilla pods appear in the background, promising a sensual finale.
