Reviews Rated 2.9 out of 5 by 11 reviewers. Rated 5 out of 5 by Kelliinthekitchen Very good I buy this salmon because it is not sprayed with pesticides. The texture is a little more dense than other salmon but I don't mind it at all. I cook it in the oven with tomatoes, lemon, garlic, olive oil and anchovies. I cover it with foil for the majority of the time and then uncover for the last 5 minutes or so. I'm very glad Sainsbury's offers this alternative to farmed salmon. January 17, 2015 Rated 4 out of 5 by EC43 Good value In my opinion this Keta salmon is very good value for price. I have never had any of the problems I've just read! I cook it in foil in the oven with skin on.Season to taste. Remove skin when cooked. The natural goodness is in the skin as well as in the flesh. I don't eat the skin myself but my dog loves it so he's getting his omega 3 too. lol ;-# It does taste different to farmed salmon and tinned salmon. Maybe the bad reviews are based on those. It's just a matter of choice and personal taste #and cost) ! I will continue to buy it if the price remains reasonably low being an OAP on fixed budget. December 6, 2014 Rated 4 out of 5 by Bree Less fatty than other salmon I spread the filets with Dijon mustard, wrap loosely in foil with a knob of butter and bake for 20 minutes. Been delicious every time so far December 4, 2014 Rated 1 out of 5 by Jo05 Horrible We have bought this for a while, as I was looking for an alternative to farmed salmon. It used to be ok, but started to be hit and miss, then recently has become horrible. The last two packs we had were absolutely disgusting and that evening's dinner went in the bin, with all four of us unable to eat it. I accept that it should be paler than the artificially dyed farmed salmon, but the last two packs were strangely almost WHITE with a very peculiar taste. I am now looking for another source of wild salmon. I wish Sainsbury's would stock some good quality wild salmon as I would prefer not to eat salmon at all if the farmed stuff is all that's available. November 22, 2014 Rated 1 out of 5 by stantheman Never again! Thought I would try this for a change from the regular salmon - BIG MISTAKE! - I was tasteless and fell apart too easily. Try the lightly smoked instead. October 18, 2014 Rated 4 out of 5 by GinnyT Good Salmon I do like this salmon. I cook it wrapped in foil with a little butter, garlic & pepper tastes fabulous & falls apart. I've never had a bone in it which always puts me off a product. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that sometimes the sizes of the pieces in the pack are quite different. When I buy it myself I pick similar sized pieces but I usually have my shopping delivered. October 10, 2014 Rated 1 out of 5 by Jorvik Not recommended. Bought this once when it was on offer, but wouldn't ever buy it again. Mushy texture, unpleasant taste, in fact so inedible we had to bin it. October 2, 2014 Rated 1 out of 5 by Luckythedog Dog salmon Keta salmon was so tasteless and fell to pieces I looked it up on the internet. Also know as chum or dog salmon many commercial fishermen don't fish for it because of its low value. Tried it a couple of times and I wouldn't eat it if it was free.
