I've always understood when an egg is broken into a dish, the clear part should be thicker near the yoke (which shows its fresh) , but these were runny and didn't fill me with confidence and of course you never know just how free range they really are if their not looking that fresh. Also good dates - but as I never assume freshness I always use Delia's test - place eggs in water and if remain more or less horizontal then Ok - if vertical NOT ok. Never had a stale egg from Sainsbury's. May have something to do with attention to logistics and storage. We have shopping delivered these eggs travel well never a broken shell.
