Maker's Mark Bourbon Whisky

Short Description

A premium bourbon from the Maker's Mark distillery in Kentucky. The special composition of the mash and the special production process of this whisky characterize its taste.

Long Description

When Maker's Mark was launched in 1959 - a few years after Bill Samuels Senior and Pappy van Winkle had developed the recipe - their product differed from all other bourbon whiskies: starting with the atypical design and the unusually large wax seals, followed by the peculiar manufacturing process and the high price. Maker's Mark is still one of the few bourbon whiskies whose corn-heavy mash contains wheat instead of rye, which promotes a milder aroma. The grain mixture is then not ground but crushed, cooked longer than usual and fermented in fermenting vats that are about 100 years old. Bourbon was more of a drink for the working class in the American post-war period, but Maker's Mark positioned itself specifically as a premium whisky from cost-intensive production. Marketing was unsuccessful for two decades, then some airlines added bourbon to their product range. The Wall Street Journal became aware of the whisky and promptly wrote a report about it - the interest of the Americans was aroused. The protected trademark of Maker's Mark are the long wax seals running down the neck of the bottle, mainly red in colour. The idea came from Bill Samuel's wife Margie - she also designed the name, label and bottle shape for Maker's Mark and can boast of the development of the brand image, which has remained virtually unchanged to this day. Since 2007, Jane Bowie has been making an important contribution to the development of the traditional Bourbon brand. Bowie started as Brand Ambassador and has since been promoted to Master of Maturation and Director of Innovation.
