Valentin Leflaive MA 17-60 Champagne Rose Grand Cru

Short Description

It is a rosé Champagne and a blend of wines harvested at 49% in Mesnil Sur Oger and 51% in Ambonnay, both classified as Grand Cru (Coeur de Terroir plot). The vines are on average 20 years old.

These sloping pieces of vines face south-east to take full advantage of the sun. These plots are renowned for the quality of their chalky soil, thus contributing to the birth of very characteristic and exceptional champagnes.

All the harvest is manual.

It is a blend of 51% Pinot Noir grapes (including 11% Ambonnay red wine) and 49% Chardonnay grapes aged for 36 months on slats in a deep cellar at constant temperature and sheltered from light. 19% from reserve wines.

The color is salmon pink, clear and brilliant.

On the nose and on the palate: small red fruits such as raspberry, Plougastel strawberry or Mara des bois followed by a fine hint of Burlat cherry to finish with hints of citrus fruits such as Menton lemon or qumkuat..

The finish outlines saline and suave notes all in length.

Food/wine pairings: as an aperitif served at 10-12°C, but not less so as not to tarnish the aromas and flavors of this champagne.

Will go very well as a dessert, such as a strawberry cake, a tarte tatin or even a Norwegian black forest. Perfect as an appetizer with savory/sweet dishes such as gravlax salmon or orange lacquered duck.

Bottles to be kept in the cellar away from light and noise with a humidity level of around 70%.

We suggest successive tastings in order to measure its olfactory and gustatory evolution until its qualitative peak.
