Short Description

It is a second Grand Cru Classé Saint Estèphe du Haut Médoc which surprises and delights its connoisseurs with immense pleasure.

2016 is a vintage with exceptional climatic conditions, thus promoting splendid perfumes and flavors taken to their climax.

On the nose, small red fruits such as cherry from the Basque Country, blueberry, Burgundy blackcurrant with a hint of peppery vanilla liquorice. The mouth is of an amplitude hardly equal, very round and powerful on finely chiseled tannins.

The bottles will remain lying in the cellar away from light and noise with an optimum humidity level of 70%. It is a wine to keep between 30 and 50 years old with an almost peak nowadays.

To decant 5 or 6 hours before tasting in the serving room.

The wine of Château Cos d'Estournel owes its reputation throughout the world to the excellence of its exceptional location on a gravel ridge, causing irrigation of the soil and subsoil with an ideal irrigation slope favoring a optimal and rare humidity to give birth to a great wine. The originality of its construction in the shape of oriental pagodas, which are reproduced on its labels, have also made its reputation around the world.

The vineyard covers approximately 65 hectares for an annual production of 290 barrels depending on the year, or approximately 350,000 bottles with an average yield per hectare of 5,300 to 5,500 bottles. Grape variety: Cabernet-Sauvignon 58%, Merlot Noir 38%, Petit Verdot 2% and Cabernet Franc 2%.

All the harvest is manual and the small berries are sorted in the cellar. The vatting lasts about 21 days, then the wine is aged in new barrels entirely for an aging of about 18 months before bottling.
