Do not open inner bag of grains do not microwave 1. Fill 3-quart (or larger) saucepan half full with water; heat to boiling. Remove outer plastic wrap from 1 bag of grains, but do not open bag of grains. Carefully place bag of grains in water. Gently boil uncovered 17 minutes, turning bag once. (Cooked grains will fill bag). 2. Stir together 1 packet dressing mix, oil and cold water in medium bowl. Set aside. 3. Carefully drain cooking water and bag in colander. Caution: hot! Rinse unopened bag under cold running water 1 to 2 minutes, turning bag, until grains are cold. Let water drain from bag until dripping stops. 4. Cut bag open. Stir grains into dressing. Stir in 1 packet cranberries & almonds. Serve immediately, or refrigerate. (If desired, stir in a few teaspoons more oil to moisten refrigerated salad). Refrigerate leftovers. Preparing 2 to h bags for a larger party; Grains still take only 17 minutes to cook! 2 bags. For 2 bags, make as directed - except use 5-quart saucepan. For dressing, use large bowl, and double all ingredients. Stir in 2 packets cranberries & almonds. 3 - 4 bags. For 3 or 4 bags, make as directed - except use 8-quart stockpot. Make dressing in extra-large bowl. For 3 bags, use 3 packets dressing mix, 3 tablespoons oil and 3 tablespoons cold water. For 4 bags, use 4 packets dressing mix, 1/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup cold water. Stir in 3 or 4 packets cranberries & almonds. Note: if a bag of grains was opened before cooking, follow these directions: heat 5 cups water to boiling in 3-quart (or larger) saucepan. Pour 1 bag of grains into water and reduce heat to prevent boilover. Gently boil uncovered 17 minutes, stirring frequently. Carefully drain in a fine-mesh strainer to retain smaller grains.
