Organic Valley, Organic Pepper Jack CheeseOrganic Cultured Pasteurized Milk, Organic Jalapeno Peppers, Salt, Vegetarian EnzymesSpicy, delicate and buttery, Pepper Jack Cheese is semi-soft and open textured with a slightly tart flavor. With the addition of organic jalapeno peppers, this is a spicy take on the classic flavor of Monterey Jack. Aged or dry it resembles cheddar, and when young it more resembles Muenster. There is some dispute as to the origins of this cheese, but all agree it hearkens back to Queso del Pais or Country Cheese produced by Fransiscan monks in Spain in the 1700's and brought to America via Mexico. The cheese was brought to Spain from Italy. Some say it is the same cheese which fed Caesar's armies.Long Description
