Raw Organic Vegan Gluten Free Dairy Free Soy Free Non-GMO Kosher Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between Coconut Butter and Coconut Oil. The difference between the Coconut Butter and the Coconut Oil is actually the fiber content. Coconut Butter is the pureed meat of mature coconuts. It is roughly 60% oil, but it also had the fiber from the meat in it. It is solid at room temperature, a creamy white/beige color and when warmed up is thick and creamy and smooth. Coconut Oil on the other hand has no fiber. The oil has been separated from the meat of the coconut. It is solid at room temperature and translucent. If you see it solid it will look like it has florets or snowflakes in it. When warmed up is becomes liquid and completely clear. It can be used for higher temperature cooking such as saut├®ing, or frying. I opened up my jar of Coconut Butter and it looks like mold on top. What is it. Your Coconut Butter is perfectly fine to eat. It may have just been subjected to a temperature change. This is not mold....they repeat, this is NOT mold. Coconuts are roughly 60% oil, and that oil likes to separate from the fiber in the Coconut Butter. You will see a layer of translucent oil at the top that looks like snowflakes or florets. You may also see spots of it around the rest of the jar. This is perfectly normal. All you need to do is gently warm the jar (set the jar in the sun or in warm water) and stir the oil back into the butter. What is the shelf life of their nut & seed butters. Shelf life of their delicious nut & seed butters is 14-16 months from date of manufacture. Should I refrigerate after opening a jar. There is really no need to refrigerate. Their butters are shelf stable. In fact if you chill them too much they become hard to use as they will not spread easily. What is the Coconut Butter made from. Artisana Organic Raw Coconut Butter is made from the meat of mature coconuts. they do not add any fillers or preservatives to their butters. Is their raw Tahini made with hulled or unhulled sesame seeds. They use hulled sesame seeds to make their Tahini. Why do they blend Cashews into the Pecan, Walnut and Macadamia nut butters. There are a few reasons they blend Cashews into these three highly acclaimed organic, raw nut butters. Cashews make the Walnut and Pecan butters more creamy and spreadable. Cashews also act as a natural sweetener to temper the natural bitterness of the Walnut and Pecan skins (which they leave in for the health benefit). Where are the coconuts from. They work with small to medium sized cooperative farms in Southeast Asia. Do you soak their nuts before making your nut butters. The short answer is no. Their raw nuts are not soaked prior to crafting them into our tasty, healthy, organic, raw nut butters. Soaking the nuts and seeds adds a lot of water (even after dehydrating) and definitely adds bacteria & moisture - reducing shelf life to just a few days. My child has tree nut allergies, is their Coconut butter safe for them to eat. The answer to your question would largely depend on how severe the allergy is. Less severe allergy = less risk. It is their commitment to isolating and eliminating cross contamination of allergens. Also, know their facility is free of peanuts, soy, gluten and dairy. What are different ways to use their nut & seed butters. Great Question... You can spread on bread or toast instead of using peanut butter. But most of their customers enjoy them in a whole bunch of ways that can really improve the taste, texture and nutrition of many other foods. Try some of these ideas. Spread on bread for a nut butter and jam sandwich Crumble coconut butter on top of popcorn Use cacao butter, coconut oil and coconut butter to make your own skin moisturizer Add a tablespoon to cereal as a morning energy boost Add a tablespoon to yogurt to achieve a wonderfully nutty, deeper flavor and greater texture Add to salad dressings or drizzle over salads Make great satay sauces Add to fruit shakes, ice cream shakes or make date/nut shakes Add to ice cream, make a sundae Add to brownies, cookies, cakes or pies (Pecan pie, walnut brownies, etc.) Make Almond, walnut, or cashew milk by adding to water and blending (We add water to the last bit of nut butter at the bottom of the jar, then add some other ingredients like agave, maybe some maca and then put the lid on and shake it. Then... (you guessed it) drink it up or take it somewhere to go. Artisana's Vision They are devoted to making unique, superior, organic products.
