Vinification of the GR-174 Priory of Casa Gran del Siurana The powerful GR-174 Priorat from Catalonia is based on grapes from the Cabernet Sauvignon, Cariñena and Garnacha grapes. In Catalonia, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on slate soils. The grapes of this top wine from Casa Gran del Siurana do not grow in the lowlands, but dig their roots in the underground in steep slopes. The steep slope cultivation ensures that even in cooler regions with shorter growing periods, the vines receive a maximum of sun. After harvesting, the grapes immediately reach the press house. Here they are selected and carefully ground. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After its end, the GR-174 Priorat will be expanded in oak barriques for another 12 months.
