With Lancers you don't need to be a wine expert to detect the taste of raspberries, watermelon or tropical fruits. It is a sparkling and fresh wine, but not as acidic or overly sweet as other ros├® wines. Created in 1944 by Ant├│nio Porto Soares Franco, oenologist and member of the 5th generation of the family, the Lancers brand has become one of the most iconic ros├®s in the world, with a differentiating wine and an opaque bottle with a different shape than usual in wines. After 76 years of its creation, Lancers continues to be part of the daily life of several generations around the world, adding that extra bubble of originality in every moment of interaction. The creation of the Lancers brand dates back to the 40s of the 20th century, with the visit of Henry Behar, an American businessman, to Jos├® Maria da Fonseca, even before the end of the Second World War, in search of the ideal wine for the US market. In a first approach, winemaker Ant├│nio Porto Soares Franco presented the Fa├¡sca ros├®, which immediately pleased and served as a starting point for the creation of Lancers ros├®. Lancers was an immediate success story in the North American market with sales of nearly half a million cases in the mid-1960s and a million cases in the late 1970s. Today, Lancers continues to be a successful case-study, given its international profile, being one of the best-selling Portuguese wines worldwide, mainly in the U. S., Italy, Spain and Portugal. The wine is a blend of our selection of different Portuguese grape varieties. A wine faithful to the original 1944 idea: pleasant and easy to enjoy.
